Kona Agro Processing Ltd established in 2008 is a Ghanaian rncompany that processes cashew nuts for sale to export markets. rnAs one of the world s major cashew producing regions West rnAfrica benefits from the sale and export of raw cashews but does rnnot capture the greater economic value added in processing. Most rnof those raw nuts are shipped to South and Southeast Asia which rnhave a more extensive processing infrastructure.rnKona is part of a wave of new cashew processing firms in West rnAfrica that aim to bring that economic benefit to the local level. It rnhas an installed processing capacity of 1000 MT however rncurrently the company utilizes less than 25% of its capacity due to rnworking capital constraints. Provided with the correct financing rnand operating at full capacity the facility can source from at least 1000 rnfarmers and employ approximately 300 predominantly female employees.
