Overview

New Mexico Shrimp Company prides itself on sustainability. As the worlds oceans are being over fished we are making a conscious effort to use techniques developed at New Mexico State University that are more sustainable and environmentally friendly. Nearly 94% of shrimp you buy at your local stores are imported from foreign countries and are treated with preservatives to prevent spoilage from the long trip over. Farm raised shrimp can be fed plant based feeds such as cotton seed meal which reduces the amount of unsustainable commercial fish meal used to feed the shrimp. Farm raised shrimp also have the benefit of quality control for consistency and quality. Shrimp are great for grilling tailgating and cocktails. Check with your local restaurants and ask if they are using a locally grown fresh shrimp.
