AgroMantaro is a Peruvian agro processor of artichokes and jalapenos that sources from small scale farmers throughout Peru and has located its processing plant in the central Peruvian Andes. By maintaining long term relationships with customers like General Mills and McCain AgroMantaro provides a steady income to hundreds of small scale farmers as well as job security for more than 600 employees at its processing plant 90 percent of whom are women employed in their first formal job. AgroMantaro's growth is critical in these rural regions where most farmers earn little income and unemployment is at 30 percent. Since becoming a Root Capital client in 2010 AgroMantaro has been able to increase sales and production by 50 percent.

Consorcio Agro artesanal Dulce Organico (CADO) is a cooperative of small scale sugarcane growers in the Ecuadoran Andean region that distills organic alcohol from sugarcane for use in perfumes soaps and other cosmetics. Through a combination of environment friendly farming gender inclusive membership practices and positive social impact CADO and its president Cecilia Arcos attracted the attention of international buyers like Dr. Bronner's and The Body Shop. With these valuable market connections support from local NGOs and Root Capital financing CADO has become the first ever exporter of fair trade and organic certified alcohol and has seen its sales volume nearly triple in the last two years.

The Damsels of Design were originally a group of nine female designers from Pratt Institute who were plucked by General Motors' Head of Styling Harley Earl to design cars. Earl knew the way to sell more cars would be to appeal to more women who were making the buying decisions in 1950s suburban households. His industry foresight worked and GM hosted a Spring Fashion Festival of Women Designed Cars in 1958 to showcase the work of the talented Damsels.

We work in shelter homes provide home stay accommodation for young women and provide community support for women in Kolkata s brothel areas.
