Overview

The Terra Capital Fund is a US$15 million private equity fund that invests in and catalyzes private enterprises that generate conservation benefits through sustainable use of biodiversity in Latin American countries which have ratified the Convention on Biological Diversity. Terra Capital's underlying premise is that private sector participation in the sustainable use of biodiversity is indispensable for its long term conservation. By developing economic value from biodiversity the users and owners of biodiversity will have an incentive to protect these assets in the long run. Terra Capital's commercial objective is to realize long term capital appreciation through equity or quasi equity investments in biodiversity benefiting enterprises and thereby demonstrate to entrepreneurs and investors that such enterprises present viable opportunities.
