Roy Mersland

Professor Roy Mersland has extensive international management, consulting and research experience in more than 20 countries in Latin America, Asia, Africa, and Europe. He was one of the founders of Banco D-MIRO, a microfinance bank in Ecuador, where he still holds a board position. He has a wide international research network, is currently involved in several research projects and is a member of the research group of the European Microfinance Platform (www.e-mfp.eu) and of the Centre for European Research in Microfinance located in Brussels (www.cermi.eu). He is the Head of the PhD program at the School of Business and Law and is the director of the Norwegian Centre for Microfinance Research - www.microfinanceresearch.org. Roy Mersland sits on several boards and advises several organizations on corporate governance issues as well as other issues related to banking, business and international development. His research areas and fields of interest include: Microfinance, corporate governance, banking, non-profit management, international business and livelihoods for disabled people.
