Overview

Ms Svati Bhogle has over two decades of experience in sustainable technology development and dissemination. In addition to her role at Sustaintech, she serves as the Secretary for Technology Informatics Design Endeavour (TIDE) where she has led technology-related sustainable development projects and spearheaded policy initiatives through her work with the Indian government's rural energy policy. She has also served as the Executive Editor of "Energy for Sustainable Development," the International Energy Initiative's journal, from January 2003 to March 2007. For her commitment, leadership, and expertise in sustainable development, Ms Bhogle has received numerous awards and recognition for her work. Recently, she was a recipient of the prestigious Ashoka Fellowship for her leadership at Sustaintech. She had also won the Ashden Energy Champion Award 2008 and the Outstanding Social Entrepreneur of the Year award from the World Economic Forum at the India Economic Summit in 2007. Ms Bhogle started her career in the development sector working with the Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology where she was instrumental in the development of fuel efficient biomass stoves and dryers. She has also contributed to several projects that explored entrepreneurship models for sustainable technology dissemination. Ms Bhogle has a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.
