Overview

Envest is a for profit microfinance investment vehicle dedicated to providing credit to microfinance institutions (MFIs) in developing countries that in turn provide loans to economically and geographically marginalized people. Envest was founded on the belief that widespread poverty is morally wrong and precludes an environmentally sustainable global economy. Universal access to financial services including credit is a necessary condition to meet in the effort to reduce global poverty in a meaningful way.The estimated unmet demand for credit from the world s low income population is $500 billion. The only plausible source of that amount of money is capital markets. The mission of Envest is to bridge the gap between microfinance and capital markets to mobilize enough financial resources to make credit universally available. We assert that the ability to deliver attractive returns to investors while making credit universally available is crucial to making financial inclusion sustainable.
