Overview

Pumped Innovation is a social venture developing a radically affordable solar water pump to increase income for smallholder farmers and reduce carbon emissions. In South Asia and East Africa tens of millions of farmers rely on fuel pumps spending up to a third of their net revenue on fuel. There is the enormous need for innovation in off grid agricultural water pumps however existing solar pumps are out of reach due to high upfront cost and long payback period compared to traditional diesel pumps. Pumped Innovation addressed these two barriers creating the first viable pay as you go solar water pump. As a team Pumped Innovation's founders have taken more than 10 products from design through manufacturing reaching 100000s of customers in developing countries. Pumped Innovation has partnered with leading NGOs and social ventures serving smallholder farmers and will deliver over 80000 pumps in the next five years boosting farmers' profits by over 50% while reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 420000 tons.
