We acknowledge that a wealth of crucial knowledge is already available within developing countries the problem is reaching people who lack literacy skills and live without electricity. We address this problem with a simple and low cost audio technology the Talking Book. We designed the Talking Book to address the short and long term needs of those we serve it gets vital knowledge into their hands immediately while enabling them to practice and improve their literacy skills over time.

Literator started in a classroom to solve the needs of a real teacher. Michelle taught 2nd grade in Oakland and knew that there had to be a better way to meet the needs of her students. Jing an Apple designer and Jeff a successful startup veteran joined forces to try to help schools solve this problem. We worked for two years to relentlessly refine learnings from teachers and school districts to learn from the best practices research and frameworks researched tested and developed alongside classroom teachers and principals.We re taking the best of technology user experience design and literacy expertise and giving teachers what they need to help students succeed in the classroom. Our focus is on advancing equity in education. By reducing barriers to access we ensure that every student is supported to be successful.
