Overview

Patagonia is working to create new national parks in the Chilean Patagonia and Argentina. Their first initiatory was the creation of Monte León National Park in the province of Santa Cruz in Argentina. This park, with 61,700 hectares, is the first coastal park in Argentina; its 41 km of coastline to protect a colony of 65,000 pairs of Magellanic penguins. Founded in 2000 by Kristine Tompkins, long-time CEO of Patagonia, Inc.
