Overview

Fairtree Impact Capital's purpose is to play a meaningful role in the upliftment of previously disadvantaged and financially excluded individuals and groups. To this purpose, we launched a private equity fund called the Fairtree Empowerment Fund I. The Fairtree Empowerment Fund I is a black owned private equity fund primarily focusing on unlisted private equity investments in predominantly South Africa. The objective of the fund is to mobilise capital for sustainable and transformative change. The investment strategy is to partner with well-established ethically minded and values-driven companies and BEE groups as well as invest in high growth businesses with an excellent track record and a clear strategy to grow profits in a sustainable and responsible way. Any shares acquired by the fund will be regarded as 100% black under the new amended Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) codes. The Fund manager, Fairtree Impact Capital, is a joint venture between Fairtree Capital and Alternative Prosperity. Fairtree Capital is a leading alternative and long only investment manager across all global asset classes with $1.5 bil FUM. Alternative Prosperity (www.alternativeprosperity.com) is a leader in the fields of B-BBEE, Responsible Investment and Sustainability consulting. The majority of the shareholders of Fairtree Impact Capital are previously disadvantaged black shareholders, facilitated through two standalone foundations.
