Global Green grants Fund believes solutions to environmental harm and social injustice come from people whose lives are most impacted. Every day our global network of people on the front lines and donors comes together to support communities to protect their ways of life and our planet. Because when local people have a say in the health of their food water and resources they are forces for change. For example Global Green grants grantees have protected the environment by creating new marine conservation areas (Chile) halting construction of mega dams (Peru) passing new forest protection laws (Mongolia) winning bans on plastic bags (Uganda) and banning deadly herbicides (China). Grantees have restored coral reefs mangroves forests and sustainable farms. And grantees have transformed systems such as the indigenous Sarawak people of Ecuador who won a precedent setting case in which the Inter American Court of Human Rights ruled that governments must obtain free prior and informed consent from indigenous peoples before corporations can extract resources from their lands.

We focus on finding solutions to the two most challenging problems of our time the climate crisis and growing inequality and aim to transform the systems and mindsets that hinder progress toward a more sustainable and equitable future for all people particularly women and people of color. While our work is primarily concentrated in the United States we support efforts addressing inequality in Israel and are looking globally to where we can make a difference. We have a long track record of aligning our investments with our values through shareholder activism and are exploring how we expand the tools we use to dedicate more of our investment dollars for greater impact.
