Overview

As President of Blue Tree Inc, Aaron provides leadership on delivery of all client services. His primary focus since founding Blue Tree in 2008 has been designing and implementing new models for marketing & financing energy efficiency programs. Most notably, Clean Energy Works Oregon (CEWO), a 501c3 that spun out from the City of Portland to deliver on-bill financing and market transformation of energy efficiency upgrades throughout Oregon under a $20MM USDOE grant. Aaron is considered a co-founder of CEWO for leading the early development of its financial strategies and serving on contract as the organization's CFO for its first 18 months. Aaron's primary responsibilities as CFO were negotiating key business agreements in favor of organizational objectives and operational business systems architecture. More recently, Aaron has been working as part of a consulting team to design statewide energy efficiency financing pilots in California. The team is working on behalf of the four investor owned utilities and interfacing with the California Public Utility Commission. The project began in the summer of 2012 and will be entering preliminary implementation phase in Fall of 2013. Aaron has help shape the underlying architecture of the recommended program design along with crafting analysis and communication to support the initiative. Aaron has been successful at creating and launching new initiatives and brings a diverse set of knowledge and experience to each engagement whether its new idea creation, financial analysis or transaction negotiation. Prior to founding Blue Tree, Aaron worked in commercial lending underwriting commercial debt transactions in the organic agriculture, renewable energy, real estate and construction industries, and in public accounting for Portland based Perkins & Co.Aaron holds a BA in Business Administration & Accounting, Cum Laude, from the University of St Thomas in St Paul MN. Outside of work he enjoys time with friends and family over good food & drink. He also enjoys many outdoor activities depending on the season. (Oh, and don’t forget the Green Bay Packers.) Once upon a time, he lived in Homer Alaska working in the halibut sport fishery and as a carpenter.
