Overview

Aditya Khandekar received a BE in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters in Biological Sciences from BITS, Pilani, Goa in 2013. As part of his degree requirements, he wrote his undergraduate thesis at the Federal Competence Centre for Energy and Mobility in Switzerland, developing a prototype of an airborne wind energy system for energy generation. He subsequently worked on a Government of India project focused on developing a road-map for thermal energy storage for India at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI). He currently works at a non-profit public policy think tank based in Mumbai where he works on developing a comprehensive energy road-map for the city of Mumbai in collaboration with the city government. Complementing his work in the sphere of research and development, he worked as a volunteer with the Lighting a Billion Lives program at TERI, where he was responsible for conducting impact assessment studies in over 50 villages in his native state of Maharashtra, India. He was also responsible for securing additional funding for the project through various corporate social responsibility initiatives. He is interested in working at the intersection of technology, policy and governance of large urban cities during his graduate studies at UC Berkeley.
