Overview

Farhadur Reza is an architect planner social activist and co founder of Build Bangladesh. Farhad worked with government and corporate sectors nationally and internationally over last 30 years. He has a strong history of advocacy for justice and equality especially supporting disadvantaged groups by complementing their innovative and creative capitals.To complement his architectural and planning 'genre' Farhad's work focus is at the nexus of capacity building social entrepreneurship economic empowerment appropriate housing and environmental sustainability. As a Senior Executive for the Australian Government he led the team ensuring $120bn worth of welfare payments being delivered to the eligible recipients. He also led the team at Infrastructure Australia to establish the first infrastructure policy for remote Indigenous communities. He was the senior advisor to the Coordinator General for Remote Indigenous Services involved in high level policy development and program delivery (around $100 million per year) in Australia. Farhad led a number of key policy reforms in Australia including Canberra Spatial Plan electronic service delivery for the ACT Government regional arts policy for the Victorian Government Infrastructure policy for remote Indigenous communities through impact investment social business and social impact bonds with multilateral organisations.He is a regular commentator on contemporary policy and planning issues through various platforms including recent conferences such as Digital Bangladesh Rethinking Architecture and Focusing People's Architecture in Australia. In 2013 his first book 21st Century Kunta Kintey was published. In 2015 his article on 21st Century Architects was published in Architecture Bulletin Australian Institute of Architect. He is a great lover of music and musicals his dream is to have at least 'few minutes' with people from all over the world on their own soil to reconfirm 'human commonalities'!Farhad is a corporate member of the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) Member of the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) Senior Adviser and Member of the Bangladeshi Architects in Australia (BaA) Founding Director of Knowledge Remittance Global (KRG) and Founder and Senior Adviser to the International Mother Language Movement (IMLM) in Australia.
