Overview
The thesis aims to examine the current situation of the SA carbon market. It focuses on sustainable development and the links between poverty inequality and climate change mitigation policies. I am using a qualitative methodological approach to assess how local communities are affected by carbon offset project interventions. I examine what benefits carbon offset project can offer beyond GHG emission reductions and who receives benefits and costs generated by the projects.
