Overview

Justin Guay joined the Packard Foundation’s Conservation and Science Program in March 2015 as a climate program officer. He supports the Foundation’s overall engagement in the energy-related aspects of our support for work to stop dangerous climate change and he helps to oversee our support to the ClimateWorks network. He will also assist in leading the Foundation’s Innovation in Climate Solutions strategy, slated to launch later in 2015. Prior to joining the Foundation, Justin held the position of Associate Director within the Sierra Club’s International Climate Program where he focused on energy lending reform at international financial institutions and global efforts to transition energy systems beyond coal to clean energy. He has worked for the Sierra Club since 2009, including in roles involving lobbying, media relations, policy research and advocacy. He has also worked as an advisor to several foundations active on climate change issues. Justin has been involved in efforts to influence the negotiations of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, and has worked in a number of countries to encourage a shift in power production from fossil fuels to renewable energy. He has lived and worked in Mumbai, India where he partnered closely with distributed solar companies serving poor communities. He has particular expertise on the potential for distributed renewable energy in developing countries. Justin received a Master’s Degree in International Development from the University of Denver and received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah.
