Cantave Jean-Baptiste is a Haitian agronomist and rural development practitioner with over 30 years of experience supporting rural development, agriculture and sustainability, as well as strengthening peasant organizations. He is the Executive Director of Partenariat pour le Développement Local (PDL), Groundswell’s partner organization in Haiti. Before creating PDL, Mr. Jean-Baptiste worked with Caritas (Gonaives and Hinche) from 1981 to 1991 as sustainable agriculture program coordinator, and then from 1995-2009 as the national director of World Neighbors Haiti. Jacques Sebisaho
Dr. Jacques Sebisaho holds a Medical Degree from the National University of Rwanda, a Master of Public Administration from Baruch College, a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science from Catholic University of Bukavu and a diploma in Philosophy from Grand Seminaire Monseigneur Busimba in Goma. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine at the Cliniques Universitaires Saint-Luc de Louvain in Brussels and specialized in Health Care Policy at Baruch College in New York. In his dissertation for his Biomedical Science degree, Dr. Sebisaho examined the impact of the Rwandan refugee influx in 1994 on the Congolese health care system in providing vaccinations for children. As part of his clinical medical school training, Dr. Sebisaho spent six months in rural Rwanda providing prenatal care, family planning, nutrition and Malaria prevention education to women, and worked with HIV-infected children in Butare. His Medical Degree dissertation focused on the health system and parent response to child injuries, concluding that preventive health education and outreach are critical factors in rapid recovery. Dr. Sebisaho was President and Medical Supervisor of the community of Sant’egidio in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, where he supervised humanitarian aid to displaced populations due to the 2001 volcanic eruption in Goma (DR Congo). As a member of the International Federation of “Pueri Cantores,” he managed and conducted the “Pueri Cantores of Bukavu,” a professional children’s choir, leading community outreach efforts to prisoners in Bukavu. Dr. Sebisaho writes and speaks fluently French, English, Swahili, Havu, Mashi and Kinyarwanda.

Ka Hsaw Wa is co-founder and Executive director of EarthRights International, and a member of the Karen ethnic nationality from Myanmar (Burma). He received his M.A. from the School for International Training (SIT) in Intercultural, Leadership and Management.
