Susan Byers

Sue Byers is the Chief Academic Officer at the College Success Foundation, an organization with over 10 years of proven experience, inspiring underserved, low-income students to finish high school; providing the unique integrated system of supports and scholarships they need to graduate college and succeed in life. Sue leads efforts in national replication of the Foundation in the United States and provides leadership, direction and supervision to staff members of the Programs Division, which encompasses the College Bound Scholarship Program, Pre-College Services, Pre-College Accelerated Services, College & Alumni Services, Scholarship Services and the Washington College Access Network. The programs include scholarships, mentoring, early outreach (including special programs for young men of color, foster and independent youth,) college readiness, academic monitoring (Pre-College and at the college level), and alumni programming. Prior to joining the College Success Foundation Sue was an administrator for Seattle Public Schools where she led college awareness and readiness programs for first generation college-going students. Additionally she co-founded Middle College in 1990, a Seattle-based program designed to recapture students who dropped out of school and provide them an early college experience and the opportunity to complete their high school education. Sue is a graduate of Pacific Oaks College and The Evergreen State College.
