Overview

Leadership Development and Strategic Program Management are two of Stephen s professional passions. In 2000 ten years after graduating from the MIT Sloan Fellows Program Stephen returned to MIT as Director of this 12 month master s degree program for 100 high potential mid career executives being prepared to assume leadership roles in their organization. Under his stewardship of the program the first executive education program in the world it doubled in size and has been heralded by the Financial Times as One of the most elite business programs in the world .During his tenure Stephen led the integration of two one year academic programs and the development of new core curriculum strengthening the leadership component and increasing relationships with corporate and government partners around the world. The marketing and recruitment process increased the quality of candidates and doubled the applicant pool.Prior to joining MIT Stephen worked with Management Sciences for Health a non profit international public health management consulting organization with a staff of more than 2200 people worldwide. He served the organization in numerous capacities in Boston and overseas. In Boston he established and directed the Office of Contract and Grant Administration and the Office of Communications and Public Information. On long term overseas assignments he served in Pakistan as the Deputy Team Leader of a $25 million Child Survival Project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and in Denmark was the Senior Operations Director of MSH s European Affiliate Euro Health Group.Stephen has performed consulting assignments for the World Health Organization the World Bank the Rockefeller Foundation USAID and numerous other international development agencies. He has lived in 7 countries and worked in more than 50 countries throughout Europe Middle East Asia Africa and Latin America. He has written several technical articles and publications in relation to strengthening management capacity within emerging health systems.Stephen is a member of the Advisory Board of The Saudi Electric Company Executive Leadership Development Center.He has an M.S. from the MIT Sloan School and a B.S. from the University in New Hampshire.
