Greg Sands

Greg brings 13 years as a successful investor at Sutter Hill Ventures where he was an early investor in important companies such as Merced Systems, QuinStreet, Feedburner, AllBusiness, Return Path, and Youku. His track record there shows the ability to identify and attract great entrepreneurs and to balance adding value and active company-building without "micro-managing." Prior to Sutter Hill, Greg was the first hire at Netscape Communications after its founding engineering team. He was its first Product Manager, wrote the initial business plan, coined the name Netscape, and created the SuiteSpot Business Unit, which he grew from zero to $150m in revenue. He also served as Manager of Business Development at Cisco where he architected a global channel management plan. Most importantly, Greg has a long-standing love of entrepreneurs and start ups. He began investing in and advising starts ups in 1991 as a consultant at Corporate Decisions, Inc. (now Mercer Consulting) where he led case teams to write business plans and develop market entry strategies for technology companies.
