Overview

Utah Health and Human Rights (UHHR) was founded in 2003 by Cynthia Willard M.D. in response to a limited understanding among medical service providers about the needs of torture survivors in Utah specifically how to recognize assess and care for survivors of torture within refugee immigrant and asylum seeker communities. UHHR s Medical Director Mara Rabin M.D. helped Dr. Willard keep UHHR open and running when she moved to California in 2004. UHHR s services have significantly grown since that time. Our mission is to promote the health and well being of the world s torture survivors. UHHR s innovative evidence based and holistic services promote health dignity and self sufficiency and are guided by profound respect for the dignity and resiliency of our clients. Our services are driven by our clients needs and include individual and group therapy psychiatry clinics intensive case management medical advocacy mind body skills groups wellness groups art therapy wilderness experiences massage occupational therapy and wrap around services for asylum seekers.
