Overview
John McFarlane is a senior figure in global banking and financial services circles and is in his 40th year in the sector (including 20 years as a main-Board director, 10 years as CEO and more recently as Chairman). John is Chairman of Barclays PLC. He is also a non-executive director of Westfield Corporation and Old Oak Holdings. He is Chairman of TheCityUK and a member of the Financial Services Trade and Investment Board and the European Financial Roundtable. John was formerly Chairman of Aviva plc, where he oversaw a transformation of the company, the Board and management, making Aviva one of the UK’s best-performing financial institutions. For a brief period he was also Chairman of FirstGroup plc.
